Carburetor Restoration

We restore carburetors to original condition: appearance, finish and durability. This goes far beyond a 'rebuild' job.

Disassembly

Each carburetor is completely disassembled - back to where it was in the factory before assembly.

In many cases we can loosen seized or corroded parts that can't normally be disassembled, using electrolysis or various proprietary methods.

The cast pieces are checked for warpage. Zinc or aluminum castings are trued to ensure that all parts match. Cast iron parts are refinished as required.

Refinishing

We restore all parts in original finishes.

Stromberg AA carburetorZinc carburetor bodies receive the original type chromate conversion coating.

Aluminum parts are restored to natural aluminum and are treated with chromate to seal the surface for corrosion protection.

Cast iron parts are usually finished in black oxide and sealed with a clear coat to prevent corrosion, though other black finishes are available for special applications.

Steel linkage parts are plated in yellow or clear zinc as required.

Fasteners

Installing bushingsWherever possible we use new fasteners. We have an inventory of tens of thousands of original screws, from original Holley float bowl screws to a huge selection of Fillister slot screws.

Restoration Parts

Each carburetor we restore gets every new part possible.

Cores and Used Parts

We have many thousands of cores and used parts to support our restorations.

In summary, our carburetors are remanufactured and restored to look and function like new.

Standard Rebuilds

We can also do a more basic rebuild on certain carburetors. This is especially suitable for daily drivers and working trucks and machines. In a standard rebuild, most of the functional parts of the rebuild are the same - bushings, parts replaced and so on, but the emphasis on original finishes, plating and casting restoration is less.

Still, our basic rebuild is still head and shoulders above any jobber or production rebuilder and carries the same warranty as our restoration work.

The advantages of a standard rebuild

Please note that we don't generally do standard rebuilds on most carburetors prior to the late 1970's. These carburetors almost always require the additional attention that goes with a complete, show quality restoration.

So, if you need your tractor carb rebuilt, or a carb for your old pick up truck, this may be for you.
